I was a freshman at BYU that year. I remember seeing you and Kolette at all the dances spinning around on your chair. Also on the list of days not good for getting engaged – April 1st. My husband asked me to marry him, 21 years ago today. When he opened the ring box, inside was a gleaming red and gold ring that he’d purchased from a gum ball machine. I remember thinking, “that is not the ring we picked out together” – April Fools – before he produced the actual ring from his pocket. The gumball ring still sits on a shelf in our bedroom.
